To support these facilities in Jennings, Louisiana, Verenium is seeking a Utilities Engineer to establish and oversee operational objectives of the pilot, demonstration and waste water treatment facility. The 50,000 gal/yr pilot plant will operate as an experimental platform for feedstock development and handling, feedstock hydrolysis and saccharification, biomass fermentation and fuel distillation. Experimental design and implementation will seek to address processing of new feedstocks, process cost reductions and optimization of unit operations. The Facilities Engineer will work and interact intimately with manufacturing, engineering and design, regulatory, and management at its Jennings, La., facility.The successful candidate will manage Utilities; including boiler, air compressors, cooling tower, electrical, Waste Water Treatment and contractors used for performing various duties in and around the site and will report to the site manager. S/He will have responsibilities for operational integrity of the plant and will maintain a relationship to the plant engineers, managers, and operators. The Utilities Manager will assist with the planning and execution of all physical plant projects and utilities and will help ensure consistent practices throughout all phases of operation of the facility/plant. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring specified work flows with overall maintenance planning and scheduling process and coordinate with the maintenance engineer and planner.The ideal candidate will possess a BS with a major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and will have at least five (5) years experience. A PE is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills and the ability to execute high quality, integrated cross-functional plans for projects. S/He will apply best practices in the development, initiation, planning, execution, control and closing of projects. Key experience in project management and personnel management is required. S/He will be a highly motivated and independent performer and will have shown the ability to fit within an environment demanding flexibility and a strong desire to do whatever it takes to get the job done right.The candidate must be hands-on including process improvement skills, creative, resourceful and results-oriented, with the proven capacity to analyze and critically evaluate complex technical data. S/He must possess a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and have the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external colleagues. S/He must perform effectively and efficiently under a deadline oriented multi-task environment and be result-oriented with a proven track record of delivery.Skills/RequirementsThe successful candidate will:· Possess deep and detailed knowledge of Waste Water Treatment.
