Job Description: Responsible for working with other members of the manmgement team to ensure that service center staff has required and needed resources to complete daily tasks and meet customer expectations; maintain a profitable terminal while increasing customer and driver base. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Strategic Development Market the company image Develop their surrounding area Understand geography, customers, and potential. Financial Performance: Prevent any unnecessary company charges or liabilities Manage profitability through minimizing expenses and maximizing service center revenue Monitor all service center spending to ensure that all expenses are consistent with budget Solicit new business, provide rate quotes and negotiates rates Operational Excellence: Ensure on-time delivery of pick-ups/deliveries Resolve issues pertaining to the major functions of the service center (EDI, dispatch, safety, etc.) Maintain good rapport with all drivers and associates Prepare timely reports in regards to service center activity (weekly, monthly, as needed) Organizational Effectiveness: Communicate with other service centers to manage freight levels and distribution Communicate with Road Drivers to ensure efficiency and safety during travels Aid in any associate relations investigations that could be effecting the service center Represent the service center at regional meeting, conferences, etc. Customer Development: Develop knowledge base of all parts & equipment vendors Develop relationships with all drivers in surrounding areas Communicate with customers regarding freight appointments and any problems or issues Maintain good rapport with all customers and develop relationships with new customers REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor s degree and at least 5 years experience in a management-level position w/ experience in Drayage Strong knowledge and experience with International Logistics Strong problem-solving and reasoning ability Excellent Communication, both written and verbal Ability to work under minimal supervision Ability to work under time pressures and make quick, knowledgeable decisions Ability to read and interpret business reports and daily logs Ability to adapt to many different situations dependent on the customer/associate needs.
