Visit our website at http://www.l-3com.com/careers/Sr. Structural Engineer II Duties:Candidate will perform structural analysis of innovative designs to satisfy structural requirements for a variety of projects, using state of the art tools and classical hand analysis techniques. Team interaction subtasks will consist of design support and reviews, leading/mentoring associate analysts in small teams, analysis documentation and liaison support. Individual contributions include determination of stresses in an aircraft's structural members, which result from the applied and induced loads, as well as the comparison of these stresses with the corresponding material allowables using appropriate theories of failure. Subtasks may include the generation of free-body diagrams, determination of reaction forces, calculation of internal loads, preparation of shear and moment diagrams, application of the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict the resulting tensile, compressive, shear and bending stresses, as well as possible structural instabilities and structural testing to validate analysis. Candidate will set high work and ethical standards for self and others. Additional duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications: BSME, BSAE, BSCE + a minimum of 6 years structural engineering experience. Must have experience in classical aerospace hand analysis method and finite element analyses codes experience. Must be able to work overtime as required. Must be able to travel as necessary. Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
