We are seeking teachers in the following subject areas: Science, Math, English & Social Studies.The adjunct instructor is responsible for implementing appropriate teaching and grading strategies that assist each student in achieving his/her academic potential while also providing superior customer service to all internal and external customers. The adjunct instructor works less hours than a full time position as defined by the Letter of Engagement that is offered. This instructor maintains the same instructional responsibilities as a Full Time Instructor, but works with a defined group of course enrollments.Essential activities include:. Implement curriculum as prescribed by KVE using activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.. Hold 2 established office hours 5 days per week which will be approved by the school principal and posted on course home pages and email signature line.. Respond promptly (within same day or 24 hours) when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence, emails, instant messages, and faxes.. Log all communications into the student management system (Maestro) within 24 hours of event.. Grade student assignments within 48 hours of submission.. Conduct at least one synchronous class session each week.. Communicate with each student via synchronous tool (phone, IM, Class Live) every two weeks; provide an email communication to both student and parent when there is no response to synchronous attempts.. Be available to assist students via phone, email and instant messenger. Work with instructional team leader to produce learning experiences suited to the grade level and to the student developmental level that will enhance student achievement.. Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the need of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.. Monitor student pacing; contact students who fall behind pace.. Maintain effective and efficient records.. Attend weekly staff meetings conducted by the school principal.. Participate is required Kaplan Virtual Education training and professional development programs.. The time commitment for an adjunct assignment is approximately 10-15 hours.A likely activities breakdown:. Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the need of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs (15%). Communicate with stakeholders in a courteous, timely and professional manner (10%). Maintain effective and efficient records (5%)Experience Required:. Bachelor's Degree required.. A valid teaching certificate from Oregon in subject area is required.. Prior teaching experience in an education and/or related field is preferred.
