The Posse volunteers will provide mounted equestrian assistance to the Sheriff?s Office. They will represent the agency in community functions such as parades and special events. There will be opportunities for the Posse/non-certified volunteers to assist in securing livestock for safety reasons and owner notification.We are looking for candidates who possess high moral standards and work ethics that work effectively with the communityDuties: The non-certified commissioned Posse is comprised of volunteers who provide mounted equestrian assistance for the Sheriff?s Office. Posse members may be called out for disposition of loose livestock. May be deployed at special events and in parades.Qualifications: Requirements:18 years or olderHigh School Diploma or GEDValid Colorado Driver?s LicenseMinimum 20/40 corrected visionDemonstrate equestrian proficiency at Grade Level I or IIPossess horse and transportation to report to eventsTESTING IS DONE FOR THIS POSITION. PHASES ARE LISTED BELOW.Phases:I Oral Board InterviewThis is a scored panel Interview of the candidate?s knowledge, skills and abilities intended to determine if the candidate meets the minimum qualifications for the position of Posse/Non-Certified volunteer. The minimum acceptable average score is 70%.II Integrity Interview/BackgroundCandidates passing the Oral Board Interview will be scheduled for an Integrity Interview. The next phase for successful candidates will be a background investigation conducted by Detectives assigned to Human Resources.III Psychological and PhysicalA psychological evaluation and physical examination will be scheduled for candidates passing Phases I and II.IV Equestrian Testing ProcessTop scoring candidates will be tested on their horsemanship skills. The test will be administered to both the candidate and horse to determine their suitability to perform the duties required for this position. They must meet an acceptable performance level as defined in the Policy and Procedures. The test will consist of, but not limited to the horse and rider maneuvering through various obstacles, traffic, reaction to noises, and other animals.
