One of UNIQUE Staffing Inc.'s clients in the Atlanta area has an opening for a Media Relations Specialist. Summary: The Media Relations Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing regional public relations campaigns, including material preparation, pitching and placing stories, and event planning. Duties: * Pitching and securing a high volume of regional and national media coverage * Developing and maintaining relationships with US, international media outlets, public affairs units, and military community. * Coordinating crisis communications efforts * Coordinating satellite interviews with regional, national, international networks and affiliates * Developing and maintaining relationships with print, radio, web media outlets. * Providing media support services to military public affairs units. * Distributing media products developed and produced by field journalist and broadcasters to media outlets * Creating and maintaining media list using Bacon??s Media Software * Other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications: * 2- 4 years media relations/publicity experience * BA or BS in Public Relations, Mass Communications, or Journalism * Self-starter with the ability to thrive in fast paced high-energy office * Ability to be proactive and assertive in efforts to secure media * Experience coordinating special events * Experience writing press kit materials and other marketing collateral * Ability to develop story angles and pitches * Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Preferences: * Proficiency using media list building software * Ability to type 40 words per minute * Ability to work weekends, holidays, or possible overnight schedules. * Service or familiarity with military Work Environment: The nature of this position requires the employee to work in an administrative office environment. This position is administrative in nature and has no unusual physical demands.
