Lead Engineer - I&C

Title: Lead Engineer - I&CLocation: Alabama-Metro Birmingham/Eastern ALLead Site EngineerSouthern Company ServicesThis is a multi-hire job requisition and will provide instrumentation and controls technical services to the generating facilities within the Southern Company. These services include but are not limited to problem resolution, troubleshooting, checkout and startup of new equipment, and technical consulting. These positions will be located at the following generation sites: Plant Yates - Newnan, GA., Plant Bowen - Cartersville, GA., Plant Miller - Quinton, AL., Plant Gorgas - Parrish, AL., Plant Gaston - Wilsonville, AL., and Plant Barry - Mobile, Al. Annual salary midpoint will be around $100,000 for this position.JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelors degree in engineering* Prefer at least 10 years of DCS field experience in areas such as configuration, HMI graphic development and troubleshooting.* Prefer high level of proficiency in one or more of the following DCS Vendor's equipment Foxboro, Emerson Ovation, or ABB* Prefer proficiency in Boiler controls philosophy* Understanding of basic networking principles including TCP/IP, and other protocols* Understanding of DCS cyber security/hardening requirements* Significant field troubleshooting experience on control strategy, field instrumentation, and control systems equipment failures* RCA diagnostic support using control system historic data, OIS data, SOE system data, event logs, etc.* Field device checkout experience* Field experience in DCS logic development and configuration and system administration* Experience in effective DCS graphics development* Loop tuning experience* Experience in applying alarm management principles* Understanding of power plant processes and equipment* Ability to develop a controls lifecycle strategy for a facility* Customer oriented work ethic* Ability to communicate with plant employees at all working and management levels* Ability to manage time properly and handle multiple assignments simultaneouslyJOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintain technical proficiency in the above mentioned areas* Cultivate and maintain contacts and relationships within the plant* Establish a precedent for solving technical problems in a timely and cost effective manner* Be a role model both technically and in dealing with customers* Maintain an awareness of the financial impact of Technical Services' support* Take an active role in the development of new employees and act as a mentor to plant I&C Technicians and Engineers* Maintain a strong sense of accountability and responsibility* Perform well as a self-motivated, self-directed employeeSouthern Company(NYSE:SO) is a super-regional energy company with 4.3 million customers and more than 42,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity in the Southeast.
