Hospitalists amd Hosptialist PA's are acute-care specialists who focus on a patient's hospital care from time of admission to discharge. These doctors drive the delivery system towards better care and work in close consultation with the primary care physician to manage the entire inpatient episode of care. Advantages to the patient of having a Hospitalist, include enhanced coordination of care, on-site availability of the physician and the physician's deep understanding and practice of inpatient care.
