As needed, also provide assistance to other laser & electro-optic R&D programs.General Duties:Lead, coordinate, and contribute to the design, R&D, test and verification activities for fiber laser application and fiber laser system programs for military, aerospace and space applicationContribute to developing a systematic design and implementation approach for above activitiesCoordinate with engineering staff (mechanical, electronics, software) to develop overall systemSupport strategic program development efforts (e.g. contribute to proposal activity)Coordinate/Interface with vendors for specialized procurement, quality and supply-chain issuesParticipate in formal customer interactions, e.g. design reviews, ATP, integration testing, etc.Qualifications:Hands-on experience in design, assembly, test/troubleshoot of high-power fiber laser/amplifiers, supported by publication record and/or product design & development experience.Fundamental understanding of laser engineering and electro-opticsKnowledge of the industry and advances in the area of fiber lasers and amplifiers (both non-telecom and communications)Self-directed individual, with good oral and written communication skillsProven skills or capable of working/leading in a high-paced integrated product team environmentMinimum 5 years (beyond degree) in laser engineering/development, preferred with a product or system focus in fiber-lasers/amplifiersM.S. degree (Ph.D. desired) in related engineering discipline, or in Physics/OpticsUS Citizenship is highly desired, Permanent Resident status is a must.We are located in the center of northern Virginia?s technology corridor, and in close proximity to the world-class cultural venues in our nation?s capital and the wide range of outdoor activities offered in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Chesapeake Bay areas.
