Management would be defined as but not limited to supervision of therapy personnel, recruitment, interviewing, negotiating best rate, training, program implementation accountability, compliance with regulatory and company policy andprocedures, financial accountability, appropriate staffing levels to promote facility efficiency, promote customer service, attend agreed upon meetings within facility, employee retention strategies, and direct patient care within discipline. The facility rehab director is delegated the authority and accountability for the day to day operations of an efficient and effective rehabdepartment.DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:1. Responsible for the direct supervision and guidance of all therapy personnel in assigned facility which includes registered and licensed therapists and rehab techs.2. Develops and distributes daily rehab schedules to therapists to appropriate staffing levels to provide optimal patient care as well as excellent efficiency numbers to promote profitability within department.3. Provides direct patient care within assigned facility as determined by scheduling, size of the department, and needs of the facility.4. Responsible for working with evaluating therapists to set RUG category on computer and schedule appropriate patient treatment plan to meet evaluation recommendations.5. Responsible for adhering to all regulatory standards as they pertain to patient treatment and delivery of care and responsible to ensure that all rehab needs are met for each patient.6. Responsible for ensuring that all documentation is completed within the minimum timeframe set by all payer sources and that the documentation accurately reflects the therapy services that were provided.7. Performs minimum of 8 chart audits per month and reports results to regional director monthly.8. Meets and or exceeds efficiency standards within the department.9. Responsible for reviewing and approving computerized time logs before submitting them for payroll.10. Responsible for minimizing the use of over-time by strategizing with team and or regional manager, and responsible for receiving approval for over-time prior to the occurrence via approval by regional manager.11. Responsible for minimizing the use of per-diem and contract therapy hours by scheduling and strategic planning to promote decreased labor cost to enhance company profitability.12. Responsible for employee annual performance reviews and provides employees with honest feedback for improvement of skills as well as positive reinforcement for a job well done.Responsible to perform disciplinary action in conjunction with human resourceswith employees when warranted.13. Responsible for promoting company philosophy and consistently displaysprofessionalism and a positive attitude to rehab staff members as well as to all facility employees and management.14. Orients new team members to ensure minimum comfort with company and facility policy and procedures which will promote employee retention.15. Completes billing and payroll timely and accurately to promote minimal errors.16. Ensures an organized, neat, and clean rehab department at all times to promote safety and excellent patient care/customer service.17. Establishes professional relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team within the facility, as well as with appropriate referral sources to promote therapy department.18. Responsible for the financial operations of the rehab department and demonstrates the ability to understand and read monthly profit and loss statements, develop daily schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels, and submits weekly salary to incomeratios to supervisor for review.19. Demonstrates the ability to be a good steward of the company by negotiating the best effort salaries within the therapy department20. Responsible for training new staff members on the computer system and ensuring passcodes are set for per-diem staff.21. Assists the management team in identifying opportunities to improve the company as well as patient care services provided.22. Works with regional director to identify employees that have proved themselves to be potential leaders within the organization.23. Assists regional director with new business leads that may arise.24. Identifies areas of personal professional growth to assist regional director in providing needed training and development needed to increase management and or clinical skills as a leader.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Education to include a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Associates Degree with a certificate in occupational or physical therapy OR Graduate of an approved curriculum in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy, OR a MS in Speech-Language Pathology.2. In good standing with all regulatory and licensing boards.3. Able to practice unencumbered.4. Minimum of one(1) year practicing as a licensed clinician within a skilled nursing facility with knowledge of PPS5. Excellent organizational skills6. Must have the ability to travel by car or plane when necessary to attend meetings, training sessions, or assist regional director which may include very limited over-nightstays.7. Ability to multi-task and work independently8. Ability to make independent decisions when appropriate.9. Maintains a working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources10. Knowledge of resident's rights11. Patient care advocate12. Exudes consistent professional appearance and demeanor in all situations13. Must have the ability to communicate in the English language.PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:1. Must be able to travel to other facilities if needed.2. Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for extended time periods throughout the workday.3. Must be able to lift up to and greater than 100 pounds with assistance4. Must be able to bend, squat, push, stoop, and pull as needed to assist when appropriate with resident treatment.5.
