Honesty, Trust, & Respect Teamwork & Problem Solving Leadership & Commitment Learning/Teaching Recognition/Rewards OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of an Environmental Technician.Under supervision, the Environmental Technician performs a variety of duties in support of the District?s Odor and Corrosion Control Program including monitoring and sampling of wastewater discharges and air emissions from sewers and plant processes, maintaining sampling equipment, and overseeing chemical discharges into the sewers for odor and sulfide control. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing chemical deliveries in the collection system; performing air and liquid sampling for ongoing dose optimization and special studies; coordinating and meeting all contractor field service providers; and providing traffic control. This individual will perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the sampling equipment as assigned, and act as the point of contact in the field for other divisions. The successful candidate will possess a High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of two years of college-level coursework or training in a related area is highly desired. Experience performing basic industrial waste sampling, laboratory testing, sample preservation and sample documentation is preferred. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, and to prepare a variety of written reports and documents. Knowledge of traffic control regulations and procedures, and the basic techniques and methods for gathering and reporting information is required. Incumbents require sufficient mobility to push, pull, lift and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weight. Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Outlook is preferred.
