Job Description: The role of an EHS Engineer is a multi-disciplinary position (environmental, health, and safety) with responsibility for the recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous conditions within the workplace. Incumbent will be responsible for identifying and mitigating environmental, health, and safety risks that may arise in the workplace.This position is a multi-disciplinary role that will serve as the subject matter expert for environmental compliance and environmental sustainability planning. Changes with respect to operations and day-to-day activities may require focus to be shifted as necessary. As such, the following are general responsibilities, but not inclusive, of this position. Implements policy and procedure to ensure compliance with the applicable standards and regulationsEnsure that regulatory reporting requirements are metPrepares or oversees the completion of environmental permittingCompletes or ensures completion of monitoring activities as required by permitsPrepares reports for federal, state, and local regulatory agenciesManages non-hazardous, hazardous, and radioactive waste disposalOrganizes spill response teams and manages associated documentationCompletes internal audits ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulationsInvestigates and resolves questions or complaints received from within the company or from customers, community, or government regulatory agenciesProvides root cause analysis and tracks corrective action to ensure suitabilityAudit and evaluate current policies, procedures, and documentation for compliance with government laws and regulationsDevelop and implement programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance policiesPrepare and deliver necessary training to employeesWorks with Facility Engineering to ensure proper permitting when planning for operational change or growthPrepare and submit monthly site metrics and performance reportsMonitor and audit contractor adherence to site EHS practicesEvaluate and analyze operations and processes, materials, equipment, and work habits of employees through ergonomic assessments, hazard risk assessments, job safety analysis, and other related toolsTakes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standards, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained. Maintains liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. Participate in site EHS CouncilRequired Skills: Proven experience in Air Management Programs, Waste Management Programs, Water Management Programs, Chemical Inventory Management Programs. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) and web-based data base applications. Must have good organizational skills with ability to work multiple projects of varying complexity. Must be able to work effectively in a team-based environment. Must be able to access all parts of the facility - climb stairs, roof access ladders, uneven work surfaces, etc. Desired Skills (or ability to attain): Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Ergonomists, Certified Safety Professional, OSHA 40 Hour Certification, OSHA VPP Program Experience, 6-Sigma CertificationRequired Education(including Major): B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering, or related field.
