System engineering provides technical support and resources to the account managers, regional offices and pre-sale and post-sale organizations on Motorola's full range of digital and analog mobile radio equipment and services. The department provides the region with pre-sale technical consultancy including workshops, customer meetings, white papers and also provides technical proposal responses, technical support during contract negotiations and implementation engineering until system acceptance. The technologies covered are mobile radio, E911 telephone, networks, WLAN, mobile data systems, applications and system integration primarily for the public safety and transit industries. The department delivers customer focused, world-class, leading edge, competitive, end-to-end solutions.Scope of Responsibilities/ExpectationsProvide post-sale technical support to the large State of Missouri project. Will be working with the lead engineer, account manager, program managers and large government sales organization on the final design and implementation of this system. It includes radio system design, RF coverage analysis, network design, proposal updates and system implementation engineering.Position will require extensive travel to Missouri and Kansas.Main responsibilities:- Update of all proposal documents and system design in preparation for Customer Design Reviews. This includes drawings, text documents and equipment lists.- Prepare and present technically compelling presentation material on the system design.- Prepare RF coverage analysis using proprietary propagation and design tools.- Integrate and design systems to support public safety including: mobile radio, digital networks, WLAN systems, microwave, and dispatch centers.- Provide engineering design services for implementation of the sold system.Specific Knowledge/Skills- Bachelors Degree.- 0 to 3 years experience or classes in Systems Engineering- Experience or classes in Radio Frequency (RF), or Public Safety Communication Systems, or Networking Systems- Ability to work closely with the account sales team to understand the needs of the client.- Ability to work closely with a team of post-sale engineers to implement the best solution based on the changing needs of the client.- Ability to use common tools such as Microsoft Office as well as public and proprietary engineering tools for propagation and engineering design.- Experience in providing technical support during the Customer Design Review and during the implementation of the system.- Good presentation, verbal and written communication skills required.- Must be able to work under pressure and independently, and be able to meet project deadlines for delivering quality solutions on time.- Be prepared to meet customers at their location and in their time frames (Kansas and Missouri region).- During certain points in project lifecycle, such as customer presentation, staging, and acceptance testing, a significant amount of travel is required. This position will focus on projects in the Kansas and Missouri region. Living in that region is preferred, but not required.- RF Two-way radio System Networking, VoIP experience/background heavily desired.
