Driver.Impact Salem Driver.Requisition ID 6763Full/Part Time Full-timeLocation Salem NHDescription Job Summary:Load, transport and unload damaged vehicles with a car carrier in accordance with company procedure and in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.Responsibilities and Duties:1. Load damaged automobiles, motorcycles, vans and other vehicles on the truck. Positions the truck where the vehicle is to be loaded. Operate hydraulic mechanism with hand-held electrical controls while standing beside the truck.2. Secure the vehicle with chains when it is in position. Load all vehicles in prescribed order for fit and weight distribution.3. Pick up and secure all loose components prior to loading, such as bumpers, hoods, doors and deck lids. Places them on or in the vehicle or elsewhere on the truck. Assure that components are moved with the vehicle when it is unloaded.4. Perform a comprehensive vehicle inventory and type of loss/damage description. Verify VIN number.5. Transport vehicles from point of pickup to point of delivery or to Impact facility, following all traffic laws and FMCS regulations. Take special precautions to prevent dropping loose parts and avoiding obstructions such as trees, wires or overhead bridges.6. Maintain a log of on-duty time, driving time and off-duty time in accordance with DOT specifications. Maintain a "commission log" showing stock number, place of pickup or delivery, commission rate, starting and ending mileage of truck and amount of fuel added, if any.7. Perform a daily check of truck condition including fluids such as oil, washer fluid and coolant.8. Perform other related duties as needed.Job Qualifications:. CDL (Class A for tractor trailer, Class B for straight trucks with GVW over 26,000 lbs.). Previous experience driving commercial motor vehicle. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Towing experience preferred. Physical exertion such as climbing on and off the truck, lifting and moving various items and bending or stooping under vehicles. May work in adverse weather conditions ad remove snow to hook up cars.
