Title Database EngineerRequisition No. 3847BRLocation of Position USA-VA-Falls ChurchGeneral Function DataFT/PT Status Full TimeJob Summary Job DescriptionThe database engineer will share database development and database administrator roles as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting IMS Government Solutions products in every stage of the system development life cycle. The database engineer will evaluate requirements and database architecture to ensure the logical/physical layout of the database satisfies project needs. This position is usually involved in data-intensive projects involving large data sets that require extensive code development. The database engineer will be directly engaged in T-SQL development and testing for optimal performance. For production systems, the database engineer is required to perform extract-transform-load (ETL) procedures through existing or new DTS packages in SQL2000 and/or SSIS in SQL2005.Responsibilities* Data acquisition, extract-transform-load (ETL) procedures, data quality control, and data loading procedures maintenance.* Design, code, test, debug, and document data manipulation related scripts.* Database quality control design and implementation.* Database design, architecture, installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance.* Database security configuration and operation for security certification according to DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP).* Database (Tables, Indexes) and T-SQL performance tuning, analysis and optimization.* Database management system troubleshooting.* Design and maintain database dictionaries.* Systems, code, and processes documentation.Skills and Experience* Three years data-intensive MS SQL projects - administer, tune, and troubleshoot.* Three years T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, UDFs, cursors, and views.* One year third-tier development: OLE DB, linking with different vendor database management systems* One year .NET and VB.NET.* Experience with report writing tool such as Crystal Reports.* Experience with PL/SQL and Oracle in Unix environment.* Analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and prioritization skills.* Oral and written communication skills required to interface with customers.* Experience can be substituted with compatible training, and/or education.EducationBachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Master degree preferred.
